Frequently asked questions and answers on various topics relating to the COVID-19 test.

1. Covid-19 test definition

1.1 What is an RT-PCR test?

“RT-PCR test” is short for “reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test”. This test is considered the gold standard among all of the available tests as false positives are extremely rare. A false positive means that the test says you are infected even though in reality you are not. To perform the test, a swab is taken of your oropharynx or, even better, your nasopharynx.

1.2 What is a rapid antigen test?

The rapid antigen test is a point-of-care test. This means that the sample taken from you is not sent to a laboratory, but rather is analysed on site using a special test kit with results available within 15 to 20 minutes. This test requires a nasal swab. False positives can be more frequent compared to the RT-PCR test. In Germany, a PCR test has to be performed if a rapid antigen test shows a positive result.

1.3 What is an antibody test?

An antibody test provides information about whether someone has already been infected with the novel coronavirus and whether the immune system has reacted to this infection by producing antibodies against SARS-COV-2. The antibody test can also be used to identify people who have been asymptomatic, i.e. without symptoms of the disease. The coronavirus antibody test is carried out quickly and professionally using a small amount of blood from the fingertip.

This test checks for antibodies to COVID-19. The antibody test is not used to detect an acute infection with the coronavirus and is not an alternative to the rapid antigen test or PCR test. Instead, the antibody test shows a reaction of the immune system to COVID-19, based on which a previous infection can be detected.

2. General questions about the EcoCare test centre

2.1 Where is the EcoCare test centre?

2.2 What are the opening hours of the EcoCare direct test centre?

Monday to Sunday 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

2.3 At what age can I be tested?

In our centres, we only take smear tests on children from the age of 3 years. However, if the child resists the smear test, no attempt will be made or the test will be stopped immediately. We would like to increase the safety of your children and ask for your understanding for this regulation. In case of doubt, please contact your local paediatrician's practice.

2.4 Can disabled people access the test centre?

They can access the test centre without any difficulty. Our staff and security officers have been instructed to process disabled people as a matter of priority. Barrier-free access is available.

3. Questions about registering and applying for a coronavirus test

3.1 Where can I register?

Please click on the button "Book Coronatest now!" and follow the registration process.

3.2 Why do I have to register?

When you register, you will receive a QR code that you will need for your chosen test. During the registration process, you will need to book an appointment to ensure that your test runs smoothly.

3.3 How does the registration process work?

After you open the registration link, you will need to enter all necessary data in the individual stages of the registration process. It is particularly important that your ID card number is correct. It can be changed by the staff on site before your test, if needed. It cannot be changed once the Covid-19 test has been done.

You will receive a confirmation email after finishing registration. You must click on the link in the email to complete the registration process.

If the email does not appear in your inbox, please check your spam folder.

Important: if the ID card number in your account is incorrect after the Covid-19 test, it will not be possible to change it or issue a refund.

3.4 Do I have to register my partner and children for the test?

A family has the possibility to create several user accounts with one e-mail address.

The procedure would be as follows:

1. Register at the following website

2. Navigate to the user account settings at the top right (3 dots)

3. Click on "Create co-user

4. Insert user data

5. Click on "Change user

6. Click "Continue

7. Log in again and select the user

3.5 How can I log in after I create a user account?

The account confirmation email contains a link which you can open to log into your user account.

3.6 What do I do if I forget my user account password?

Please navigate to the log-in window and click on “I've forgotten my password” to generate a new password.

4. Questions about payment

4.1 How can I pay for my coronavirus test?

Currently it can be paid online by credit card and, on desktop computers, using GiroPay.

4.2. What happens if there is a problem when I try to pay by card?

Please contact your card issuer to identify the cause of the problem.

4.3 When do I have to pay for my coronavirus test?

After you pay, the cost of your chosen coronavirus test will be debited from your bank account.

4.4 Will I receive an invoice for my order?

EcoCare does not generate invoices. You will receive a debit receipt for your card from the payment provider Stripe as well as the order confirmation. You can request a refund along with the test result.

4.5 How do I cancel my appointment?

Please send your payment confirmation along with your cancellation request to direct-support@ecocare.center. Please check the terms of cancellation in our general terms and conditions first.

4.6 How long does it take for me to receive my refund?

We will check your support ticket carefully. If you qualify for a refund, it may take 2 to 3 weeks for the money to be credited to your account.

5. Questions about the user account

5.1 Where do I find my QR code?

You will find the QR code on the right-hand side of the start page in your user account.

5.2 Can I register other people for a test via my user account?

A family has the possibility to create several user accounts with one e-mail address.

The procedure would be as follows:

1. register at the following website

2. navigation to the user account settings at the top right (3 dots)

3. click on "Create co-user

4. insert user data

5. click on "Change user

6. click "Continue

7. log in again and select the user

5.3 How can I cancel my booking?

To cancel a test that has not yet been taken, please log in to your customer account. Click on the test you wish to cancel in the list under "Purchased test". Then click on the button "Cancel order". As a result, the money will be credited back to your bank account in the coming days.

Purchase date + 14 days = 100% money back

Purchase date + 15 days = 50% money back

Purchase date + 3 months = no money back at all

5.4 How long does it take for me to receive my refund?

The refund can take 2 to 3 weeks.

5.5 How can I close my user account?

To close your account, go to the menu bar on the right, click on your name and then on “Close account” at the very bottom. Please note that this action cannot be undone.

5.6 Where can I change my personal data?

You can change your personal data in your account. However, please note that you can only change your personal data before you go to the test centre. Any subsequent changes will not result in changes to the document.

5.7 How can I cancel my appointment?

You can cancel your appointment yourself. Please click on the test in the customer account, then a window will open and please select the option "Cancel order". The test will be deleted from the customer account.

5.8 Can I order multiple tests at the same time in my user account?

Several appointments can be booked at the same time for one person.

Please note, if another customer is to be registered, to use the co-user function or to make the test booking via an individual access.

6. Important things about the test at the centre

6.1 What do I need to bring along to the test?

In order to check your personal details, you need to bring photo ID along with your personal QR code in the app or printed out. Please also bear in mind that you must wear a face covering that covers both your nose and mouth when you enter the location.

6.2 What do I need to bear in mind before the test?

In order to avoid an invalid test result, please do not eat, drink, smoke or brush your teeth 15 minutes before you get the test.

7. Questions about the test result

7.1 I have had a test. How and when will I receive my test result?

The results of the standard test are normally available according to the time periods after sample collection given in the table under 2.3 (in > 99 % of all cases). The results of the antigen rapid test are available within 15-20 minutes.

You will be notified by email as soon as your test result is available. You will be able to access your test result digitally: you can view and download it online in your personal area in the EcoCare portal or in the EcoCare app.

Please note that the times shown for obtaining test results are based on past experience and intended as guidance. It might transpire that we are unable to meet the deadlines shown, especially if there is a capacity shortage due to the dynamic way in which the coronavirus pandemic is unfolding.

If you test positive, the health authorities must be notified by law.

7.2 In what language is the Covid-19 test certificate issued?

The test certificate is a PDF document and is issued in the language combination that you order. The following combinations are available: German/English, Turkish/English, French/English, Russian/English, Greek/English, Japanese/English and Chinese/English.

Note: After the registration process, it is no longer possible to change the language combination of the test certificate.

7.3 Can I receive a printout of my test result?

We currently only provide results electronically in PDF format.

7.4 What do I do if my test result says “void”?

The word "void" in this context stands for an invalid test that must be repeated.

Corona-Warning-App integration

Users can voluntarily save the results of their rapid tests in the Corona-Warn-App and add them to the contact diary. Anyone who tests positive for Corona in a rapid test can also warn contacts directly via the app. A negative result is displayed in the Corona-Warn-App for 48 hours. The Corona-Warn-App is an app that helps trace infection chains of COVID-19 in Germany.
